Sara Evans (re)Marries

People.com reports that Sara Evans married former University of Alabama quarterback Jay Barker Saturday in an outdoor ceremony at a Franklin, Tenn. farm near Sara's home.

Sara's son Avery, 8, walked her down the aisle and the couple's seven children (Sara's three and Barker's four from their previous marriages) were their only attendants.

Nashville singer/songwriter Marcus Hummon, writer of the Rascal Flatts hit "Bless the Broken Road," performed the song during the short ceremony. Christian minister Joe Beam, who introduced the couple last fall, performed the ceremony.

Sara, 37, wore an ivory silk taffeta Vera Wang gown with a halter neck; Barker, 35, wore a Dolce and Gabbana suit. Guests were told to wear black, but the wedding's catering was decidedly more down-home, featuring fried chicken, beans, biscuits and macaroni and cheese.

"It was really very elegant, but Sara wanted it to feel like you were at her house," friend and wedding planner Traci Phillips of The Perfect Party told People.

Sara and Jay were engaged last March. "It was hard for me to believe he was real and that he loves me the way he loves me," Sara told People. "I thank God many times a day for bringing me Jay." (GACTV)

First Father's Day - Luke, Darryl and Joe Don reflect

Three of country music's prominent performers will experience Father's Day as a dad for the first time on Sunday. Luke Bryan, Darryl Worley and Rascal Flatts guitarist Joe Don Rooney have all had their first child within the last three months.

For each of them, there's a mix of responsibility and awe, and in two of those cases, there's a little bit of a health concern at work, too.

Joe Don is the most recent new daddy; he and wife Tiffany Fallon had a son, Jagger Donovan, at the end of May. He says being a father is "amazing," though it's also a bit draining: "No sleep, you know."

Darryl and Kimberly welcomed their daughter, Savannah Gail, March 24, and Darryl says he has "a whole different outlook on life because of it." The first three or four weeks were rough, and they have to keep a close eye on her while her body gets used to the world around her.

"She had a lot of those baby issues," Darryl says. "She's on a medication for reflux — I guess she gets that from me — and it's all that colic and stuff that babies have. She has a real sensitive stomach, so we had to find the right formula and all this other stuff, but we've got her lined out right now, at least it seems that way. She's doin' good, sleepin' thru the night, growin' like a weed."

Luke and Caroline's son, Bo, is six days older than Savannah. He's slated to undergo surgery for a hernia, ironically enough on Luke's birthday, July 17.

"When he comes out of there and everything's alright, that'll be the best birthday present I could have," Luke says.

In the meantime, Bo is already making Dad take stock of his actions.

"I gotta be a little more serious now: I'm responsible for somebody," Luke observes. "But it's great. It changes your life every day. Every time he smiles at you, something changes." (GACTV)

Little Big Town make big difference

After a long and sweaty CMA Music Festival, Little Big Town rode out the final day of the event on Sunday with the Ride For A Cure to benefit the T.J. Martell Foundation. The Ride, which brought out a huge number of their fellow artists, raised a tidy $35,000 for the organization, which funds research for cancer, leukemia and AIDS.

"Everyone seemed to have a great time, and we were so pleased to see such wonderful support from the many sponsors, participants, artists and fans that came to help us raise vital dollars for research," said Little Big Town's Kimberly Schlapman. "Ride For A Cure was a great way for us to end CMA Music Fest week by giving back to such a wonderful cause."

Temperatures in humid Music City were over 95 degrees, but that didn't stop Darryl Worley, Lonestar, Jennifer Hanson, Gary Chapman, Chuck Wicks, Ira Dean, Bluefield, Ray Scott, Jamey Johnson, the Roys and GAC's Storme Warren, among others, from making the 25-mile trip from the Harley-Davidson outlet in Franklin to Columbia, Tenn., where they met up with fans, had barbecue and did a little jam session.

In addition, the T.J. Martell Foundation presented a plaque to Little Big Town. (GACTV)

Taylor's (not-so) secret crush

Long before Taylor Swift was a celebrity herself, she — like many young girls — developed a bit of a crush on a musical act. Unlike most other girls, she's actually had the chance to meet the object of her affections and talk with him as a musical peer.

"I was in love with all of the members of Hanson," she told Lorianne Crook during a CMA Celebrity Close Up session at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. "I thought I was going to marry the middle one because his name was Taylor, too."

That, of course, was not to be. He got married in 2002 and now has three children.

"I recently met him and his wife a few weeks ago, and they're lovely people," Taylor said. "I was kinda like telling him that [crush] story but trying not to creep him out. It's a fine line." (GAC)
